GRADS
Information on GRADS
The GRADS database provides admissions, enrollment, demographic, and appointment data for graduate students up through summer term 2004 via a secure World Wide Web interface. On a weekly basis the Graduate College updates GRADS from UIDirect and other standard administrative data sources. The Graduate College provides this database as a convenience to graduate departments. As administrative data sources change to Banner and the EDW, the Graduate College will maintain GRADS as a source for legacy student information from UI Direct. Because of limited resources at the Graduate College, a limited user base for GRADS, and the ability to obtain graduate student data from alternate sources such as Banner and Decision Support's EDW, we have decided not to update the system at this time.
We intend to keep GRADS operational indefinitely, and we will continue to update graduate student information from legacy campus sources on a weekly basis until those data sources are retired. We are optimistic that the tools provided by Decision Support will soon provide an improved capability for accessing graduate student data.
How to Procure a GRADS Account
To obtain a Grads account, send an email to grads@illinois.edu with the following information:
- User (Your) Name
- Your NetID
- Your Department Name
- Will you require SQL access (answer NO if you're not sure)?
- Curriculum Code(s)
Please list all the 4 digit graduate curricula codes used in your department including any joint degree-program curricula codes. WARNING: If your list is incomplete, you will not be able to view your students in any omitted codes. However, when such an omission comes to light, an email to grads@uiuc.edu will be all that is necessary to correct the problem.
In order to receive a GRADS account, you must also have UIDirect access or equivalent Banner access at least to view students in your department. Much of GRADS information originates in UIDirect and therefore we must model our access after UIDirect.
